The history

Air-cushion bags for securing transportation
When loading a container, a ship, an aeroplane, a railway car or a lorry, there is often the problem of filling out gaps for reasons of stability. This serves the best possible securing of the freight and prevents any transportation damage. The air-cushion bag offers a practical and at the same time inexpensive solution for this and similar problems. The air-cushion bag is an inflatable bag made from plastic. In the regular version, this bag is made up of two self-supporting layers. The exterior layer (mechanical protection) is a coated braid fabric. The interior layer (air chamber) consists of LD-polyethylene of a special quality.
How is the air-cushion bag filled and how long does it hold the air? The filling is conducted with an easily to be produced filling adapter.

This may be connected to a stationary installation (compressor) or a pressurised air installation on a lorry. After filling the bag, a special valve, tailor-made by our company, prevents the leakage of air upon pulling out the adapter. Experience has shown that there is no loss of pressure even after several weeks of transportation – in a ship’s container.  What load can an air-cushion bag take?  This question cannot be answered very precisely. There are a number of factors that have to be taken into consideration with regard to the product to be protected. Tests have shown that a mass of approx. 1 ton hitting the air cushion at a speed of 10 km per hour does not cause any functional damage.
